Fabricio Andrade struggled to move past the disappointing end of his first meeting with John Lineker in October.

The Brazilian superstars first met in the ONE on Prime Video 3 headliner late last year. As a result of missing weight, Lineker was stripped of the ONE bantamweight world championship, but Andrade was still eligible to capture the crown with a win over ‘Hands of Stone’ in Malaysia.

Through three rounds, Andrade appeared to have an edge. Nearing the halfway point of the fourth round and mere minutes away from a certain victory, Andrade delivered an ill-placed knee that hit Lineker low, sending him crashing to the canvas in pain. Unable to continue, the bout was ruled a no-contest, leaving the ONE bantamweight world championship vacant.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Fabricio Andrade revealed that the weeks following the unfortunate result left him feeling angry at both himself and his opponent:

“After the fight, like for a couple of weeks I was just thinking about it all the time and I was getting frustrated and angry at myself... I was angry at him and everything you know. But, eventually, you get over it, the past stays in the past. We can’t change the past and I have to look now, I'm in front of him again, I have a second chance to do everything different and I’m happy with that.”

Fabricio Andrade discusses the fame that followed his ONE on Prime Video 3 appearance

Despite Fabricio Andrade leaving without a ONE world championship in October, ’Wonder Boy' is still reaping the benefit of an otherwise spectacular performance in an otherwise entertaining main event. Sharing details on how much his life has changed since that fateful night four months ago, Andrade said:

“Man it’s crazy... A lot of stuff is happening in my life right now. It’s a bit like sometimes I get confused. It’s something that I have dreamed of my whole life, you know. But when it’s actually happening it’s hard to believe. I get really confused sometimes with what should I do, you know and stuff.”

If Fabricio Andrade believes things are crazy now, imagine what it will be like if he manages to walk out of the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium this Friday night with 26.4 pounds of ONE Championship gold wrapped around his waist. It’s a can’t-miss event and you can watch it all live and for free in North America with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
