In their huge world title rematch, Fabricio Andrade believes that John Lineker will lean on one aspect of his skillset.

At ONE on Prime Video 3, the two Brazilian finishers met for the first time and Fabricio Andrade had a lot to say in the build-up to the fight. After he predicted that ‘Hands of Stone’ would turn into a grappler when faced with his striking abilities, it came true in the fight.

Andrade’s range and versatile arsenal proved to be too dangerous for Lineker to compete with. He adopted a wrestling-heavy approach to buy himself some time to recover and to take away Andrade’s speed and size.

In a recent interview with ONE Championship, Andrade spoke about what he expects from Lineker next time around:

“The only thing that he’ll try to do more is to wrestle with me. He has a little bit of success in his attempts to put me down. So that’s probably what he’ll try this time you know.”

On February 10 at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video, Fabricio Andrade and John Lineker will settle the score from their no contest with the vacant world title on the line. The event is live and free on Prime Video for North American fans.

After Andrade’s success in the first fight, there will be a lot of questions surrounding how John Lineker makes adjustments going into the rematch.

“My life has really changed a lot” - Fabricio Andrade on his growing popularity after fight with John Lineker

2022 was a huge breakout year for ‘Wonder Boy’ Fabricio Andrade.

Making his ONE Championship debut in July 2020, the 25-year old has produced a five-fight win streak under the ONE banner. Last October, Andrade got the reward for his win streak, a shot at the bantamweight world championship, held at the time by John Lineker.

The result of the fight was an abrupt and inconclusive ending following Lineker missing weight and being stripped of his title, and the fight itself being declared a no contest following an unintentional foul.

Despite the fact that he was seemingly moments away from becoming a world champion before it was gone in an instant, there were a lot of positives for Andrade in the fight.

Following his entertaining and skillful performance against the former champion, Andrade emerged as a star in ONE Championship with his fighting style and personality.

In an interview with the promotion, he said:

“It happened really fast and my life has really changed a lot and to see all this like coming to reality, all these stuff that I dreamed my whole life, you know, is a feeling that’s even harder to explain.”

Before taking on Lineker, Fabricio Andrade chalked up knockout wins over promising bantamweight contenders Jeremy Pacatiw and Kwon-Won Il in 2022.
