Former UFC fighter Deron Winn claims he would confront Khabib Nurmagomedov about homophobic opinions if needed.
Nate Marquardt enraged MMA fans on Twitter when he posted several homophobic comments regarding a commercial during UFC Vegas 69. Winn was one of many people to ridicule Marquardt for his point of view. As a result, one fan asked the American Kickboxing Academy fighter this question:
“Would you say this to Khabib or any of your Muslim teammates who practically share the same views as Nate towards homosexuality???”
Winn responded by saying:
“Yes.”
The Lindenwood University alum has been training partners with Nurmagomedov and other Muslims for several years at AKA. Although the former UFC fighter said he would confront his teammates, the controversial topic is not connected to them. Marquardt is the one who publicly made homophobic comments, and Winn has addressed him directly on social media.

Nate Marquardt upset a lot of people by saying homosexuality should not be shown in commercials. The backlash was overwhelming, and the former Strikeforce middleweight champion felt the need to respond. He had this to say on Twitter:
“It is not hateful to say that homosexuality, pedophilia, or fornication is disgusting. It’s not loving to be silent when the culture praises things that lead people to Hell (1Cor 6:9-11). It’s not hateful, but loving to protect children from this world’s evil demented propaganda”
Deron Winn provided this rebuttal to Marquardt’s defense:
“Trying to put homosexuality and pedophilia in the same category is insane buddy. Also, fornication is happening in every crevice of this planet. Let it go. It’s 2023 bro, lots of gay people not bothering anybody and I quite frankly think it’s the least of our worries.”
Winn made his UFC debut in June 2019 with a record of 5-0. The AKA fighter had a rough start, losing his first two fights against Darren Stewart and Gerald Meerschaert. Luckily for him, he bounced back with a unanimous decision win against Antonio Arroyo in December 2020.
After a two-year layoff, the 33-year-old took a brutal beating against Phil Hawes, leading to his release from the promotion. It’s unclear what’s next for the Lindenwood University alum.
