Khabib Nurmagomedov

Early life and career

Khabib Nurmagomedov was born in the village of Sildi in Tsumadinsky District of the

Dagestan ASSR, which is an autonomous republic inside Russia. His father was a veteran of

the army and had wrestled from an early age as well as training in other martial art forms

earlier. Khabib trained under his father and started wrestling from the age of 8. He was

attracted to Mixed Martial Arts when he saw others training in it inside the gym. Khabib

trained in wrestling, judo, and combat sambo in his youth. He would get into street fights for

a while but then focused completely on Mixed Martial Arts. Khabib made his MMA debut in

2008 and would fight a long time in Pro FC and M1, before finally making his debut in the

UFC in 2012.

Khabib came into the UFC with a record of 16-0 and then went on to build on that. Inside the

Octagon, he was practically undefeatable. He beat some of the best UFC fighters in the

world, including Pat Healy, Rafael Dos Anjos and Edson Barboza.

round fight, McGregor was dominated by Khabib. The two put on a show, but in the end,

Conor McGregor had to tap out of the fight ending it early in the fourth round. Post-fight, he jumped into thecrowd attacking McGregor’s cornermen. His action sparked a brawl among the crowd between McGregor and Khabib fans.
