Following his successful title defense at UFC 270, he underwent knee surgery that sidelined the Cameroonian for the remainder of the year. He will now look to make his next title defense in 2023.

The champion is currently enjoying some downtime as he recovers from surgery to make his comeback to the octagon. He posted a series of photos from his time at the Tonga market and captioned it, saying:

"Plantain × avocat [avocado]"

Fans came up to the UFC champion and took photos, and Ngannou obliged. 'The Predator' also ate plantains and avocado at one of the stalls.

Francis Ngannou is currently looking to make a comeback to the octagon. His last fight was in January 2022, when he fought Ciryl Gane in his first title defense. Ngannou showed his fans a completely different side of his game as he outwrestled Gane to win the decision.

Who will Francis Ngannou fight next?

As the UFC heavyweight champion makes his road to recovery, the only question that is on everyone's minds is who he will fight next.

Francis Ngannou has practically mowed through the entire heavyweight class, knocking out the best fighters in the division, including one of the most dominant champions in Stipe Miocic. However, in 2023, another name will enter the division.

The former light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, who is widely considered to be one of, if not the greatest fighter in the history of the sport, is making his move to the heavyweight division. He has not fought in two years and has been bulking up to challenge Francis Ngannou or Stipe Mioic.

Jones initially looked to fight Miocic. However, the matchup died in its crib for undisclosed reasons.

Jon Jones had made it very clear that he would fight only fight either Miocic or Ngannou in his heavyweight debut. With the introduction of 'Bones' in the division, a shakedown of the 265lbs class seems inevitable.
