Gervonta Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko are two of the biggest names in boxing today. After their recent victories, many in the boxing world want to see a showdown between the two fighters.

Top Rank boxing promoter Bob Arum, who has Lomachenko as a client, recently had a conversation with BoxingScene where he spoke about the possibility of the matchup becoming a reality. Arum showered praise on 'Tank' for his recent performance against Frank Martin and shared that Lomachenko would like to be the next fighter to face him.

Speaking about Shakur Stevenson as the next possible matchup for 'The Matrix', Arum claimed that a matchup between Lomachenko and 'Tank' would be a bigger box-office draw:

"[Gervonta Davis] is a very good, powerful kid, good puncher and he wasn't fighting a tomato can... We're up for that fight. Lomachenko's up for that... When we sit down, we will see if it's feasible, but Lomachenko would like to do that fight... Davis has established a position where he's good at the box office... a fight with Davis would produce more money than a fight with Shakur."

Arum also mentioned November-December as the possible timeline for the fight.

Davis recently locked horns against Martin for the WBA lightweight belt on June 15. The event was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

'Tank' proved himself to be the superior fighter that night and scored a knockout victory in the eighth round. With the win, the 29-year-old extended his undefeated record to 30-0.

How did Vasiliy Lomachenko respond to Gervonta Davis' callout?

After a year-long layoff, Vasiliy Lomachenko returned to action in May 2024 and faced off against George Kambosos Jr. for the vacant IBF lightweight championship. The fight was held at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.

The Ukrainian fighter outclassed his opponent for the majority of the fight and proceeded to score a TKO victory in the 11th round.

After the fight, Gervonta Davis took to social media to challenge 'The Matrix' for the scrap. Lomachenko responded by saying:

"During my boxing career, I never run... I always take the fights. Right now, I want to come back to my home, spend time with my family and after then I rest a little bit we can talk about the future."
