Has Khamzat Chimaev ever lost in wrestling? Here's 'Borz's record before joining the UFC

Khamzat Chimaev is one of the most feared fighters in the UFC, holding victories at both welterweight and middleweight. The Chechen-born Swede is also undefeated in his MMA career with a record of 12-0 that includes six dominant victories in the UFC.

Prior to making his debut for the organization in 2020, 'Borz' had also dominated the competition in Sweden in men's freestyle wrestling. The 28-year-old is a three-time gold medal winner at the Swedish Freestyle National Championships, winning two first-place medals in 2016 and 2017 at 86 kg, before returning in 2018 to take gold at 92 kg. At the national championships, Khamzat Chimaev is undefeated, sporting another 12-0 record, which includes seven technical falls and three pins.

Across his entire wrestling career, 'Borz' has competed in 24 freestyle wrestling matches, winning all of them. Aside from his gold medal performances, however, one of the Chechen's most notable victories came against fellow UFC fighter Jack Hermansson in 2021.

The pair competed in the Swedish wrestling event, Bulldog Fight Night 9, whilst both still fighting under the UFC banner. Khamzat Chimaev dominated their match and took home the victory on points. The Swedish MMA star is expected to return to the octagon later this year to compete in the middleweight division. Dana White stated that he would be thrown into the deep end to face the best 185 lbs has to offer, which includes the champion Alex Pereira, Israel Adesanya, or Robert Whittaker.

Khamzat Chimaev labels Colby Covington a "liar" after his appearance at UFC 286

Earlier this month, Leon Edwards defended the welterweight title against Kamaru Usman at UFC 286's main event. Prior to the bout, however, it was revealed Colby Covington was a backup fighter as he stepped on the scales at the official weigh-ins. 'Chaos' then spent much of his return in the spotlight by firing shots at everyone, which included claiming that Khamzat Chimaev refused to fight him.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Chimaev hit back at Covington. The 28-year-old labeled him a liar and stated that he agreed to fight 'Chaos' on four separate occasions:

"He lied. They called me up four times, but why did it not happen? They wanted it, UFC wanted it, why did it not happen? Somebody said no. I know it's not me. I go out with the media that time and he was quiet..."I showed to everyone I want to fight with Colby. I post a picture of him on Instagram and Twitter. Everywhere I spoke about that. I wanted to make that show."
