Khamzat Chimaev is on MMA fans' minds right now after his impressive performance against Robert Whittaker at UFC 308. The pair collided in the co-main event in a highly anticipated bout for a potential middleweight title shot.

'Borz' handed Whittaker the first submission loss of his UFC career, with the Chechen-born fighter snapping on a rear-naked choke in Round 1 that forced his opponent to tap.

The hastiness with which 'The Reaper' tapped led to speculation Chimaev had broken his jaw with the choke. It was later revealed that it was the lower front teeth that had become dislodged, and according to Whittaker, his lower teeth had been vulnerable since breaking his jaw at age 19.

Several days after the event, Chimaev's friend Tam Khan recreated the popular trend on social media where people sitting in expensive cars in public are asked what they do for a living.

The middleweight contender's response was of much amusement to fans, as he said:

"Smashing people bro."

The 30-year-old now finds himself occupying the No.3 ranking at 185 pounds, and given his sensational performance against Whittaker at UFC 308, there are calls for 'Borz' to tackle Dricus du Plessis for the title next.

Dricus du Plessis eyes Khamzat Chimaev next

With Khamzat Chimaev's first-round submission win over Robert Whittaker sending shockwaves through the MMA world, middleweight king Dricus du Plessis has shared his thoughts on who he'd like to fight next.

The South African was originally expected to face Sean Strickland next in a rematch of their UFC 297 fight. But du Plessis has changed his focus to 'Borz' for several reasons.

During a recent episode of Fight Chats hosted by South African comedian and actor Rikus de Beer, 'Stillknocks' explained his desire to fight Chimaev, saying:

"As a fan of the sport, and as the middleweight champion, [Chimaev] is a fight that gets me more excited. Taking somebody's [undefeated record]. I've beaten Strickland before and I know I'll beat him again. Getting that Khamzat fight, that gets me excited. I think the whole world, the fans want to see it, the fans ultimately pay to watch the fights... The Khamzat fight is 100 percent what I want."
