Former UFC lightweight fighter Josh Thomson believes Sean O'Malley answered a lot of questions with his UFC 280 showing against Petr Yan. 'Sugar' went the full distance of three rounds, picking up a controversial split decision victory over 'No Mercy.

Controversial or not, O'Malley certainly proved that he can hang in there with arguably the best bantamweight in the world. Thomson believes that 'Sugar' proved to be a real fighter beyond the colored hair and pink Lamborghini that he sports online. The 44-year-old UFC veteran told John McCarthy on the Weighing In podcast:

"He showed me lot tonight. He showed me that he's got it. He's not the guy on TikTok f***ing just blowing sunshine up everyone's a**. He's the guy that really is a fighter. He is a true fighter. I think there was a lot of questions answered tonight John... Is he the guy with the pink hair and cornrows and all the tattoos, looking the part? No! He's a f***ing fighter. He can fight."

Sean O'Malley doesn't want to hear fans' opinions on his win over Petr Yan

Sean O'Malley lived up to the toughest test of his career so far, going back-and-forth against Petr Yan for 15 minutes. While most of the MMA community had Yan winning, two of the judges saw it differently. However, it may not have been a complete robbery as O'Malley definitely had his moments throughout the fight.

All said and done, O'Malley got his hand raised in the toughest test of his life, potentially winning a shot at the UFC bantamweight crown. 'Sugar' now doesn't want to hear what fans think about his controversial win over Yan. The bantamweight superstar implored fans to voice their opinions everywhere but to him. The 27-year-old said on his YouTube channel:

"Let me hear it, boys... Post-fight, some of you guys might have thought I lost, some of you might have thought I won. At the end of the day, they said I won... It’s not my f**king fault. You guys wanna go tell the judges, that I lost, you wanna go tell Dana [White], tell whoever, but don’t tell me. Save it, boys, cause that’s not what my record says.”
