"He didn't seem to be in any danger" - Danial Williams says Rodtang was "brilliant" in Jacob Smith domination at ONE 169

Danial Williams expected to see nothing less than the Rodtang Jitmuangnon that showed up at ONE 169.

The Thai-Aussie striker had his money on 'The Iron Man' from the start even though he gave Jacob Smith the benefit of the doubt. However, what unraveled on Nov. 8 proved Williams correct when Rodtang defeated Smith with flying colors in their anticipated rematch.

Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA, Danial Williams said he continues to be impressed with Rodtang and how his 'brilliant' showmanship made this one-sided beatdown into an entertaining bout:

"Rodtang was otherwise brilliant. He was cool. He still made it entertaining. He didn't seem to be in any danger at all. I expected a little bit more from Jacob, but it happens sometimes when you come into these big fights. And Rodtang probably wasn't the way he expected him to be, maybe he was different. It was an interesting fight."

To this day, nobody has been able to replicate Danial Williams and Rodtang's insane back-and-forth scrap in April 2021.

It was so entertaining and ridden with violence that they were named 2021's ONE Super Series Fight of the Year. Unfortunately for Williams, he lost to Rodtang, but it was by a close margin.

Next week will be Williams' turn to put on an equally entertaining performance when he squares off with all-action brawler Thongpoon PK Saenchai at ONE Fight Night 26.

'Mini-T' Danial Williams says he looks forward to a clash of styles with Thai rising star Thongpoon on Dec. 6.

As aforementioned, Williams needs no introductions. He's been fighting for a very long time and holds his own in three different martial arts disciplines, including Muay Thai.

However, he understands that fighting his Thai rival will be no picnic. Thongpoon is known to have a somewhat reckless fighting style, who hunts for knockouts at every opportunity.

Like Rodtang and fighters before him, Williams believes that these kind of styles are what makes a fight entertaining to watch.

Speaking to ONE before their strawweight Muay Thai scrap, he said:

"I'm a fan of [Thongpoon]. I like his style. I think we'll make a good fight because we're both risk-takers."
