Thongpoon PK Saenchai finds himself in a do-or-die situation at ONE Fight Night 26. The Thai fighter heads into his strawweight Muay Thai joust against 'Mini T' Danial Williams off two successive defeats to Rui Botelho and Zakaria El Jamari.
Despite the added pressure, the PK Saenchai star is staying calm and collected to get himself back into the winner's column inside Bangkok's iconic Lumpinee Stadium.
He sat down with ONE Championship for a pre-fight interview to share his goal, saying:
"For this fight, I am hungry for victory because if I lose again, it will affect my future in ONE. In other words, my back is against the wall right now."
The 27-year-old will have it all to do against the ever-tricky Williams, who put an end to his four-match losing skid against Banma Duoji at ONE Fight Night 25.
'Mini T' certainly has the potential to turn this one into a classic scrap as he seeks to extend his winning ways. Thongpoon, though, knows there is no better time for him to get back into the winner's column, and he'll be out to prove that when they go toe-to-toe at ONE Fight Night 26 on Friday, Dec. 6.
Thongpoon vows to sharpen mental fortitude for Danial Williams barnburner
Knowing a victory is far from certain, Thongpoon isn't solely honing his craft on the mats to get the job done. The 27-year-old dynamo knows he needs a world championship mindset to go with his world-class striking arsenal.
In the same interview with the promotion, the Maha Sarakham native added:
"I have to push myself, be more determined, train harder, and be more sharp-witted in the fight. I have to change my mindset completely to regain my faith."
