Henry Cejudo rejects Sean O'Malley's idea of fighting bantamweight contender for interim title, claims 'Sugar' didn't beat Petr Yan at UFC 280: "I’ve seen better Decisions on “Married at First Sight"

Henry Cejudo recently went off on Sean O'Malley after 'Sugar' called for an interim title fight against Marlon Vera.

On Twitter, 'Triple C' criticized O'Malley's controversial UFC 280 split decision win over Petr Yan. Cejudo went on to compare the rising superstar to the rapping duo, Island Boys, of TikTok fame:

"Sean nobody thinks you beat Yawn. I’ve seen better Decisions on “Married at First Sight.” The only Title you should get is “Most likely to be the 3rd Island Boy.” I would beat you and Cheeto with TJ’s Shoulder, Kattar’s leg and Aljo’s vagina."

Several fans and pundits disagreed with two of the judges who scored the fight in favor of O'Malley. As per the UFC's stats, Yan outlanded 'Sugar' 95 to 91 on the feet apart from landing six out of 13 takedown attempts.

However, O'Malley clearly outdid Yan in terms of significant strikes landing 84 against the Russian's 58. Controversial or not, he certainly proved his ability to compete with elite bantamweights.

Sean O'Malley's on potential Marlon Vera rematch

Henry Cejudo had initially called for a title shot against Aljamain Sterling despite Sean O'Malley moving up to the No.1 contender position with his win over Petr Yan. However, Cejudo changed tune and called for an interim title fight against O'Malley after the champion confirmed that he won't be returning before mid-2023.

But O'Malley has refuted Cejudo's call-out and recently called for an interim title clash against Marlon Vera, who he already shares history with. 'Chito' handed O'Malley his only professional loss back in 2020, which 'Sugar' still disputes.

O'Malley believes that an interim title fight against Vera makes sense with the winner slated to fight Sterling when he's ready. The 27-year-old said on his YouTube channel:

"He [Sterling] wants to wait eight months. I get it, I do, but say the No. 1 contender, ‘Suga’ Sean O’Malley is ready to go in March, and the next guy in line, in my opinion, should be [Marlon] ‘Chito’ Vera. He just beat Dominick Cruz, beat Frankie Edgar, beat some good guys. Why not have a little interim belt and then the winner of the interim belt fight Aljo when he’s ready?"
