Humble Diego Paez aims to silence bold Johan Ghazali at ONE Fight Night 32: "Going to use my experience and IQ"

At ONE Fight Night 32, Colombian-American striker Diego Paez hopes his measured approach and veteran savvy will be his trump card against teenage sensation Johan Ghazali's emotion-driven style.

The 31-year-old striker enters this flyweight Muay Thai showdown inside the majestic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, June 6, in search of his maiden promotional victory.

While he acknowledges there's added pressure for this pivotal showdown, the Classic Fight team martial artist did offer how Johan's brash ways will help give him the edge tomorrow.

"No, I think that's his style. You know, he's playing into how he likes to act, and he likes to fight off his emotions, and, you know, that's why it's a great matchup because I'm the opposite," Paez told Nick Atkin when asked if he viewed Johan as overconfident.

"I've learned the hard way that, you know, with my experience, that's not the best route to go. And I'm going to use my experience and IQ. And yeah, I'm excited for it," he added.

Despite appearing confident, Paez, however, knows he'd have to walk the talk against one of the promotion's brightest stars in Muay Thai at ONE Fight Night 32.

The Southern California native, who surrendered a split decision to Sean Climaco in his debut in February, is well aware of his opposite number's knack for producing highlight-reel moments.

Besides, Johan is on a redemption arc himself, having dropped two of his last three fights to Johan Estupinan and Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat.

For his part, though, Paez is committed to giving 'Jojo' a run for his money and producing an upset for the ages come ONE Fight Night 32.

"I'm ready to put on a show, and I see multiple ways this fight ending my way," he continued.
