Elias Mahmoudi isn't one to make predictions, but he has every intention of leaving ONE Fight Night 26 with a win and a $50,000 bonus.
After winning back-to-back bouts, including victories against Edgar Tabares and Taiki Naito, 'The Sniper' will look to score the biggest win of his career thus far when he meets 'The Bosnian Menace' Denis Puric on Friday, Dec. 6 inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Mahmoudi vs. Puric could potentially pave the way for one of them to challenge for the vacant ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship in 2025. Recognizing the opportunity that lies ahead, Mahmoudi plans to bring the heat inside the Mecca of Muay Thai, earning himself a big bag and a highlight-reel finish.
Speaking in an interview with ONE Championship, Mahmoudi said:
“I have no predictions. But one thing is for sure: I am coming for the bonus in this fight.”
While Mahmoudi has faced his fair share of top-tier talent under the ONE banner, he's never squared off against a heavy hitter like Denis Puric.
Could Denis Puric earn a title shot with a win against Elias Mahmoudi at ONE Fight Night 26?
Fresh off his three-round war against 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon at ONE 167 in June, Puric will be looking for his third-straight win in the art of eight limbs at ONE Fight Night 26.
In his last two Muay Thai outings, 'The Bosnian Menace' has delivered dominant performances against Vietnamese standout Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat and top-five contender Jacob Smith. He also holds a noteworthy win over Tagir Khalilov.
As a result, Puric is the third-ranked contender in the ONE flyweight Muay Thai division. With a win over Mahmoudi, the 39-year-old fan favorite could find himself with a long-awaited shot at 26 pounds of gold.
Who leaves The Land of Smiles with their hand raised and a potential title opportunity in their back pocket?
Fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE Fight Night 26 live on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, Dec. 6 in U.S. primetime.
