At ONE on Prime Video 3, Fabricio Andrade delivered on the hype that he had going into his bantamweight title fight. However, after putting on a great performance, ‘Wonder Boy’ landed a knee low to the groin of John Lineker, which ended the fight in a no contest.

After Lineker’s recovery period, the former world champion couldn’t continue and Fabricio Andrade’s moment was denied by his own unintentional foul. Given his great performance and John Lineker's weight miss before the fight, which left the championship vacant, Andrade has declared himself the uncrowned champion.

A rematch with John Lineker would be a huge fight for the two Brazilians that would provide a conclusive result. But despite wanting to seal the deal by facing Lineker again, Andrade has also said that he would be open to exploring other options.

In an interview with The MMA Superfan, ‘Wonder Boy’ said:

“I could fight somebody else if he [John Lineker] is not ready to fight me.”

He added:

“I believe he’s [Lineker] the toughest guy after me in this division, but if he’s not ready then I’m gonna fight somebody else.”

If not John Lineker, Fabricio Andrade could find out his next opponent very soon.

At ONE on Prime Video 4, former champion Bibiano Fernandes faces rising contender Stephen Loman in a fight that is sure to produce another title challenger that could step into Lineker’s place.

“I did everything right” - Fabricio Andrade looks back on near-flawless performance against John Lineker

Fabricio Andrade made a lot of bold predictions ahead of his fight with John Lineker at ONE on Prime Video 3 but proved himself right. In what many believed would be a war between the two, Andrade dominated the majority of the fight whilst it lasted.

Though the end of the fight left ‘Wonder Boy’ and the fans disappointed that the result wasn't a decisive outcome, Andrade’s performance on the night was a treat to watch.

After John Lineker had been stripped of his title on the scales, it was still all to play for if Andrade was successful, which seemed very likely before the unintentional foul.

Talking about his feelings towards the fight and its unfortunate ending, Fabricio Andrade said this in an interview with ONE Championship:

“I trained a lot, worked a lot, and sacrificed a lot to get in my best shape. I made weight, I did everything right, I was winning the fight, almost knocking him out, and the fight ended like that. From a near knockout to a no contest, it was very frustrating. I was very sad with the result of the fight.”
