At ONE 164, Joshua Pacio looked to continue his reign as ONE strawweight world champion against a dangerous challenger in Jarred Brooks. When the fight went to the scorecards, Brooks was revealed to be the winner via unanimous decision, ending Pacio’s dominant streak.
After winning back his world championship from Yosuke Saruta, ‘The Passion’ successfully defended the title three times. Jarred Brooks was seen as a tough matchup for the Team Lakay fighter and that proved to be true in the fight as the defending champion offered little offense.
A few days after their fight on December 3, Joshua Pacio thanked his coaches and ONE Championship in an Instagram post, as well as his opponent Jarred Brooks despite the tension between the two men going into their fight.

ONE 164 delivered a great card, headlined by the ONE strawweight world title fight between Joshua Pacio and Jarred Brooks. As the second event in ONE’s double-bill in Manila, it lived up to the hype and produced plenty of noteworthy moments.
With some great finishes leading up to the main event, the night was capped off by the crowning of a new champion when Jarred Brooks defeated Joshua Pacio via unanimous decision.

Whilst there were several performances worthy of being spotlighted, arguably the most impressive was Jarred Brooks’ world title winning display in the main event. Dethroning previously dominant champion Joshua Pacio, the American was able to once again back up his talk inside the circle.
In the highlight reel posted by ONE Championship, all of the best moments from the strawweight title fight unsurprisingly came on the side of the challenger. Through all 25 minutes, Brooks was able to neutralize Pacio’s offense and force him to fight defensively.
Whilst Brooks clearly had the grappling advantage, he also proved that he could strike with his explosive opponent, landing the most significant shots of the fight.
