Following his win at UFC 285, Ian Garry shared a post in honor of his own performance. But after receiving backlash from the MMA community, the welterweight was forced to defend himself.

'The Future' put on a standout performance in the most recent pay-per-view event. After suffering an early setback against Kenan Song, he rallied to score a huge knockout victory to extend his unbeaten run in the sport to 11 straight. The Irishman is determined to stay active and wants to force his way into the rankings sooner rather than later.

After posting a bloodied-up face of Song on social media, Ian Garry came under fire from fans and later had to justify himself. He responded:

"A few people on here find me posting this disrespectful. This has nothing to do with respect. The respect was in the cage, I spoke to Song before I spoke to Rogan... This is my work. My attack and my defense. This is what I trained to do and what Song trained and tried to do to me. This is part of the game... I ain't denying I have a sick and violent mind. To me, this is art, he was my canvas."

The defeat on Saturday night extended Song's losing streak to two, giving him a 4-3 record since making his debut in the promotion almost six years ago. While it's unlikely he will be cut from the UFC, one or two more losses could spell the end for 'The Assassin'.

Ian Garry's UFC record: How has the Irishman fared four fights into his career inside the octagon?

Prior to joining the UFC in 2021, Ian Garry spent the entirety of his time with the popular UK-based MMA promotion Cage Warriors, where he managed to put together a perfect 7-0 record.

After a rocky start to his octagon debut, the 25-year-old landed a huge right hand against Jordan Williams and ultimately stopped him. Garry instantly caught fans' attention and raked in a number of supporters for his public admiration of Conor McGregor.

Back-to-back clear decision victories over Darian Weeks and Gabriel Green followed before Garry earned the aforementioned TKO victory over Kenan Song in the UFC 285 prelims.
