MMA legend Ben Askren is currently in critical condition, suffering from pneumonia and other complications. The MMA community is heartbroken by this news and is praying for Askren's quick recovery. Conor McGregor's friend, Dillon Danis, has also sent a prayer.
Askren, a former Bellator and ONE welterweight champion, Olympic wrestler, skilled boxer, and a man of many crafts, was traded to the UFC in 2018 in exchange for all-time MMA great Demetrious Johnson. He made his UFC debut in 2019 against Robbie Lawler and won by bulldog choke in Round 1. 'Funky' retired from professional MMA on November 18, 2019, with a UFC record of 1-2.
As per reports, the former UFC fighter has developed severe pneumonia and is currently hospitalized. Danis, who enjoys playing the heel occasionally and has a history of back-and-forth with Askren, recently kept his feud aside and sent 'Funky' a message.
"I heard the news before it hit the media about Ben Askren. It's a lot more serious than people think. No matter how bad our beef might've been, he's a great coach and a family man. Praying he pulls through this 🙏"
