Jake Paul claims recent Anderson Silva clash made "disappointing" number of PPV buys

Jake Paul engaged in a thrilling eight-round boxing fight with MMA icon Anderson Silva this past weekend. The excitement for the clash and the hype surrounding the event unfortunately did not translate into pay-per-view buys.

'The Problem Child' cited the ongoing holiday season as one of the factors for substandard viewership. He also claimed that his previous events did massive numbers when intention-based spectator demand was high during COVID-19.

Speaking on a recent episode of the IMPAULSIVE podcast, Paul said:

"All my other fights were during COVID when no one had anything to do and anything to watch. I had to fight this year. I just had to get it f**king done. I'm sick and tired of waiting around."

While estimating the pay-per-view buys, Paul also claimed that he lost a fortune trying to bring this event together:

"Not only did I make zero, but I lost millions of dollars just running a goddamn organization with fifty employees. I think it will probably go around 200-300k, which is kind of upsetting."

Jake Paul claims that the news of Anderson Silva being knocked out in sparring gravely affected the PPV buys

Jake Paul passed the biggest test of his boxing career against Anderson Silva with flying colors. In many people's view, it was Paul's best boxing performance to date. The judges scored the bout 77-74, 78-73 and 78-73 in favor of the American.

However, much to Paul's dismay, the event failed to generate powerful numbers. In his opinion, it was partly Silva's fault. Just days before the fight, 'The Spider' seemingly revealed that he had been knocked out twice in training.

In the same episode of IMPAULSIVE, 'The Problem Child' said:

"On the pay-per-view buys thing, the pre-buys were going crazy, and o Wednesday when the news came out about Anderson saying that he got knocked out or whatever and the fight was in jeopardy and this press came out... The pre-buys tanked all the way down."
