Jamahal Hill believes UFC 283 title fight against Glover Teixeira could have been stopped

UFC 283 saw Jamahal Hill and Glover Teixeira go head-to-head for the vacant lightweight championship title.

Hill emerged victorious after a long and intense fight, though not without injury. It later emerged that both fighters suffered broken noses, with the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission issuing both fighters with 180-day medical suspensions.

During a recent interview with MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn, newly crowned light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill was asked about his take on whether the fight should have been stopped ahead of the final round.

'Sweet Dreams' said:

"I wasn't surprised that they didn't stop it. But I thought it might have been able been able to be stopped. Well, the doctor might step in and stop the fight because I [have] seen the cuts you know? I seen the damage that I was doing and things, and it was bad, bro. It was a lot, you know?"

Jamahal Hill reacts to fans' behavior at UFC 283

In the same interview, the newly crowned light heavyweight king reacted to the antics of the fans at the recent UFC pay-per-view event in Brazil.

Sharing his take on the situation, Hill had this to say:

"Dealing with the Brazilian people was amazing, you know, it was all positive vibes, great energy, they were really respectful and things like that. [But] the crowd that was there [at UFC 283] was a different story, you know? They got a little f***ing weird... one dude is like [sticking the tongue out] all these sh*t... like being really sliced, bro. You got like a job, like family, kids, like you old as hell, bro."

He added:

"I took it as like, it was sports, but for them to be like, salty and like, things like that... especially like, the Brendan Moreno situation more or so, kind of was like, f***ed up."

'Sweet Dreams' secured his fourth consecutive victory with a championship win over Glover Teixeira. The light heavyweight champion's professional record now stands at 12 wins, with seven knockouts and four first-round finishes.
