ONE's No.1-ranked strawweight Jarred Brooks heard Demetrious Johnson's namedrop on the JRE podcast—and the contender is very interested in testing his skills against the GOAT.

The strawweight already has wins over two of the division's top talents in Hiroba Minowa and Bokang Masunyane. He's now welcoming the prospect of facing the flyweight king, 'Mighty Mouse'.

Brooks took to Instagram and respectfully called out Johnson:

"I love DJ! He is the GOAT and I appreciate the name-drop, but I would love to mix it up in there with the GOAT and kindly prove him wrong that there isn't any advantage if we were fighting. I would love to win a world title then trade our knowledge in the circle together."

Take a look at the post:

Brooks is of the opinion that 'Mighty Mouse' wouldn't have any advantage over him if they were to share the circle. While a matchup between Brooks and Johnson would certainly be intriguing, the former has a massive test coming up in Joshua Pacio that he must pass first.

Jarred Brooks faces Joshua Pacio for the world title

'The Monkey God' is preparing for his first world title fight against strawweight champion Joshua Pacio at ONE 164 on December 3.

For now, the 29-year-old's sole focus is on training for his fight with Pacio. In an interview with ONE, Brooks said:

"The real fight preparation comes into play...these last two months I will be working like a madman to achieve beyond what I thought was reachable! Work is being done and I will be ready."

Brooks has been very vocal heading into his first world title fight. Pacio, the Filipino, recently demonstrated his confidence and replied to his opponent:

“Jarred Brooks, you’ve never fought somebody like me. This is my division. I’m not even at my peak, and I’m the best in the world. That’s a scary thing for Jarred Brooks. You will lose because of your arrogance.”

Regardless, Brooks has reason to be confident in himself, as he is yet to lose since joining ONE in 2021. In three promotional bouts, 'The Monkey God' has registered as many victories.

Prior to that, Brooks picked up wins in Bellator as well as the UFC. Interestingly, Brooks fought reigning UFC flyweight champ Deiveson Figueiredo to a narrow split decision back in 2017.
