Newly crowned ONE strawweight world champion Jarred Brooks believes ONE Championship’s title holders would best the UFC’s champions in a potential cross-over event featuring the two brands competing against one another.

While the chances are slim of the two organizations working together to co-promote and event pitting their champions against one another, there is certainly nothing wrong with a little fantasy booking and some trash-talking. Jarred Brooks did exactly that following his world title win over Joshua Pacio on Saturday.

Discussing the possibility of ONE world champions facing UFC champions at the ONE 164 post-fight press conference, ‘The Monkey God’ said:

“I know Reinier de Ridder just got beat, that was a really bad fight. But I think he can beat IA [Israel Adesanya]. I think that the boy at 145, he fought Lineker. [Fabricio] Andrade, I think he can definitely do it. Demetrious [Johnson] of course. At 155, Christian Lee. I mean, we can go tit-for-tat with the UFC. I think we are more than capable and that we have shown that we are just as good, if not better than the UFC.”

Dominating the world of martial arts on a global scale, ONE Championship will look to gain a strong foothold in the United States this spring when the promotion makes its mainland debut on May 5, bringing an event headlined by the highly-anticipated trilogy bout between ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes.

Jarred Brooks appreciates the sense of family in ONE Championship

‘The Monkey God’ has competed in some of the biggest combat sports promotions in the world, but for Jarred Brooks, none have been better than ONE Championship. Appearing on the Unwrapped Sports podcast, Brooks shared his experience when first joining the Asian-based organization in 2021:

“I’ll say first the one that I like better is ONE Championship because they treat us very well over there, it’s like a family when you’re being introduced to the production crew. They’re taking you everywhere, making sure you’re having fun in the process of doing all these interviews, all this structured stuff before the fight.”

If Jarred Brooks gets his way, he’ll be part of the promotion's big debut in the United States this May. ‘The Monkey God’ has expressed interest in running it back with his ONE 164 opponent. Seeing as the two met on Joshua Pacio’s home turf on Saturday night, it only makes sense that a potential rematch would give Brooks the home-field advantage.
