Former UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade locked horns against rising flyweight contender Erin Blanchfield at UFC Vegas 69. Blanchfield made a bold statement with her dominant performance as she managed to secure a rear-naked choke in the second round to finish off 'Bate Estaca.'

Following the loss, Andrade recently made a surprising admission during an interview with Ag Fight. According to the Brazilian, her loss to Erin Blanchfield was partly due to a wardrobe malfunction.

Although she acknowledged that it was not an excuse for her loss, Andrade explained how she was distracted when Blanchfield made her takedown attempt. Apparently, as Blanchfield moved in, her shoulder slipped under Andrade's top, causing her breast to fall out completely. The distraction from the incident caused Andrade to lose focus and forget to defend against Blanchfield's takedown attempt:

"This is not an excuse, but when she came for the takedown, I lost focus. Because when she moved in, she put her shoulder just under my top and my breast completely slipped out. I lost focus and forgot to counter... All I could think of was my breast. When I used my hand to put my breast back in the top, that’s when she was able to take me down. It’s all part of the game, though. It’s not an excuse."

Andrade, however, commended her opponent's gameplan and stated that it wasn't intentional on Blanchfield's part:

"She really had a great game plan. It wasn’t on purpose. We have to be ready for everything. I should’ve been prepared to let my breast be out if it slipped out. It has been shown in so many places before. I shouldn’t even be worried about that,”

What is next for Jessica Andrade?

Jessica Andrade came into her fight against Erin Blanchfield on the back of a three-fight win streak, having recently beaten Lauren Murphy at UFC 283. However, she took a risk by stepping in on short notice against Blanchfield, who had been on a seven-fight win streak before the fight.

Unfortunately, Blanchfield choked out Andrade in the second round, which dealt a blow to her aspirations for the title. Nonetheless, Andrade has avenues available to her, as she is ranked in the Top 10 in both the Strawweight and Flyweight categories.

Jessica Andrade has been shifting back and forth between weight classes, and although it might be advantageous for her to go back down to 115 pounds and win a few fights, she could also remain at 125 pounds and challenge new rivals.

Regardless of what she chooses, Jessica Andrade has proven to be a warrior and is sure to bounce back from this loss. While it may be a setback, it won't keep her from being a force to be reckoned with in both divisions.
