Jon Jones' catch-up with boxing champion Gervonta Davis this week has sparked a fierce debate amongst fans on social media as both men have been involved in domestic violence cases.

The video, uploaded to the the UFC's Instagram account, shows Jones' meeting with Davis during UFC 285 fight week. The pair exchanged pleasantries, including the MMA star offering to help train the 28-year-old with grappling and jiu-jitsu.

MMA fans have since flooded the comments on the video, with many discussing the domestic violence charges between the two men. Jones was charged with domestic battery against his then-fiance in December 2021, but the charges were dropped three weeks later.

Gervonta Davis, the WBA lightweight champion, was jailed in December 2022 for a charge of domestic battery, but the woman in question later refuted her own accusations.

One fan commented on the post and was surprised they didn't see more hate towards both men for their previous charges:

"Bruh where did all the hate for beating women and doing coke go???"

Dana White reflects on Jon Jones' DQ loss back in 2009

UFC president Dana White has revealed that he still carries regret over the one loss on Jon Jones' MMA record (26-1).

'Bones' was disqualified for repeated alleged 12-6 elbows in his bout with Matt Hamill in The Ultimate Fighter Season 10 finale. The action is against the unified rules of mixed martial arts.

Appearing on The Jim Rome Show this week, White stated that he has lobbied for the Nevada Athletic Commission to overturn the loss, but they have consistently refused.

The 53-year-old added that seeing the loss on Jon Jones' record "kills" him:

"Look at all the people that he [Jon Jones] has fought. He has never lost a fight. It kills me that one [loss] is on his record... 26-1. You have to understand, for the people who don't know... This was during a time when the Nevada State Athletic Commission was very weak."

He added:

"The referee in there stopped the fight and called Jones the loser in that fight, a fight he was dominating and should have been finished. Instead of disqualifying Jones, they should have stopped the fight and Jones right now should be 27-0."
