Jon Jones has opted to fire back at critics regarding his position on fighting Tom Aspinall. The current UFC heavyweight titleholder has faced criticism from fans, fighters and pundits for his apparent lack of willingness to face interim heavyweight champion.
According to Aspinall, 'Bones' has retired from the sport. His comments were made during a recent interview with Chael Sonnen and Daniel Cormier, two former opponents of Jones.
Sonnen and Cormier co-host a podcast called Good Guy/Bad Guy, with the pair having shared their thoughts on the Jones-Aspinall on several occasions on the podcast.
It appears that Jones came across Aspinall's comments on the podcast. During a spree of posts on X, Jones took aim at Sonnen and Cormier, and wrote:

"Jon Jones whooped both of y'all, but hey -- why not team up on a podcast and gossip about his life? Meanwhile, he's out here making your annual salary in a week. Stay busy, boys."

Jones won the heavyweight title in March 2023 against Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 285. He successfully defended the belt against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, and despite maintaining his position atop heavyweight division, appears to have no interest in unifying the title against Aspinall.
Jon Jones gives Tom Aspinall a unexpected shout-out in Thailand
Jon Jones is currently filming a Russian spin-off of the UFC's The Ultimate Fighter reality TV show, where he and Nate Diaz will serve as the opposing coaches.
During his stay in 'The Land of Smiles', Jones hosted a seminar in Phuket at the world-famous Bangtao Muay Thai training facility, home to some of the best fighters in the world.
The seminar broke the record for the largest in Phuket history, and Jones shared massive thanks with one person in particular, Tom Aspinall. According to Jones, half of the fans attending the seminar at Bangtao were from the UK.
He wrote on X:
"Just wrapped up the biggest seminar in Phuket history. Half the crowd flew in from the UK -- How wild is that?! Massive shout out to my guy Tom [Aspinall] for all the free promo... Couldn't have done it without you. Seriously though, I'm beyond grateful for this brand new UK following..."
