For former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Haggerty, if you want the smoke, you have to be able to deal with the fire. Deep into his intense preparations for his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title fight against Nong-O Hama at ONE Fight Night 9, 'The General' is looking mighty frightening.

Haggety, understanding that he'll be going against one of the greatest Muay Thai fighters in modern history, is leaving no stone unturned in his training. This is highly evident in an intense video package posted on Instagram by 'The General' himself.

Here's the video:

After watching the video, we can wholeheartedly say that we certainly don't want the smoke from Jonathan Haggerty. Ever. We can't imagine not soiling ourselves at the sight of 'The General' pumping his fists across the ring from us. He is motivated, angry, and most importantly, hungry for gold.

Jonathan Haggerty might be facing his most difficult task yet, defeating the great Nong-O Hama

In the early parts of the video, we see a quote written on the wall of Haggerty's gym, The Knowlesy Academy. The quote says:

"To be a champion, you have to believe in yourself when nobody else will"

This is quite a powerful way to show what kind of mindset Haggerty has at the moment. Going against the great Nong-O Hama, 'The General' will go against perhaps his most difficult and dangerous opponent yet. If you pull the numbers, it's easy to see why Haggerty might be considered the underdog at ONE Fight Night 9.

Nong-O Hama is the winningest world champion in ONE Super Series history. He's never lost in the promotion and is on a 10-fight unbeaten streak in ONE. He has the record for most consecutive world title defenses with seven, with his last five coming by way of knockout. On top of that, Nong-O boasts a staggering 265-54-10 professional record. He is a god amongst gods.

For Jonathan Haggerty, he is a force to be reckoned with in his own right. He is a former multi-time ISKA Muay Thai champion, a former WBC Muay Thai world champion, and a former ONE Muay Thai world champion. 'The General' is on a three-fight winning streak after losing and failing to regain his belt in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

Now fighting at bantamweight, where he admits allows for a healthier, less dehydrated version of himself, Jonathan Haggerty is primed and ready to become a two-division world champion in ONE. He just needs to go through Nong-O first.

ONE Fight Night 9 will air live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
