Former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Jonathan Haggerty has struggled to get back into the ONE Circle this year. The British-born fighter earned one win but unfortunately dropped out of two scheduled bouts.

'The General' was forced to pull out last minute against Walter Goncalves due to health reasons. The 25-year-old was then booked against Amir Naseri in a ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix alternate bout but was again pulled out at the last minute due to weight issues.

Haggerty discussed these problems in an interview with The MMA Super-Fan. 'The General' explained:

"The last time, I made 61 kilos. I made the weight, but it was just really the hydration - I can’t stay hydrated. It was pretty difficult to balance the two. The last time I made 61 kilos against Mongkolpetch, I felt absolutely unreal. And in the next one, my body just must have grown. I had a 12-week camp for Walter Goncalves and I just started to fade at the last bit. I started to peak a little bit too early. You know, I thought it was hard. I was doing it all by myself."

'The General' will be going up a weight division and making his debut at bantamweight at ONE on Prime Video 4 on November 18. In the bantamweight Muay Thai showdown, Haggerty is booked to face the dangerous Russian Vladimir Kuzmin.

Jonathan Haggerty wants ONE Championship in the UK

'The General' Jonathan Haggerty has joined a chorus along with his fellow British fighters asking ONE Championship to host an event in the UK. ONE has many great UK-born fighters on its roster.

Speaking to Calf Kick Sports, Jonathan Haggerty said:

"One hundred percent, that's the goal. Let's bring ONE to the UK and show the fans that the UK Muay Thai absolutely up there and smashing it."

'The Hitman' Liam Harrison has already presented the idea to ONE Championship CEO and Chairman Chatri Sityodtong. Speaking to SCMP MMA, he said:

"I talked to Chatri [Sityodtong] about this and I said, ‘You need an excuse to bring ONE Championship to England, let me be that excuse. If I win that title let’s go fill out an arena in the UK.’"

ONE Championship has recently expanded its foothold in the UK. ONE recently signed a partnership to host a Road to ONE series with MTGP UK, a Muay Thai, and kickboxing organization operating in the UK.

To convince the organization to come to the British Isles, Jonathan Haggerty will definitely need a win at ONE on Prime Video 4 on November 18. It will be no easy task as he will be making his bantamweight debut against a tough test in Vladimir Kuzmin.
