Three-time defending ONE strawweight champion Joshua Pacio is looking to make his fourth world title defense at ONE Championship 164. He believes he has what it takes to submit his next challenger.

Not many are betting on 'The Passion' submitting Jarred Brooks, but anything is possible inside the circle. Apart from that, Pacio has picked up four submissions under ONE's banner, including an inverted kimura against Pongsiri Mitsatit.

When asked whether or not he thinks he can submit his upcoming opponent, Pacio told JM Siasat's Sparring Sessions:

"It’s possible man, this is mixed martial arts. Anything can happen, anything can happen. If this is pure wrestling, he can beat me. If this is pure jiu-jitsu, he can beat me. But this is mixed martial arts."

Brooks will serve as Pacio's fourth strawweight title defense, as he's already successfully defended his belt against Rene Catalan, Alex Silva, and Yosuke Saruta. The champ has the benefit of fighting in front of the home crowd as well.

Joshua Pacio wants match with 'Mighty Mouse' in future

Already etched in ONE Championship history, Pacio would like to test himself against one of his heroes. The Filipino champion has modeled some of his game after Demetrious Johnson and would love to fight him. In the same aforementioned interview he stated:

“If given a chance, I would like to test my skills against my idol since I was in high school Demetrious Johnson. But that’s not the main goal. I know that my teammate there Danny Kingad will be a champion very soon.”

Despite his desire to compete against the great 'Mighty Mouse,' Pacio knows that his teammate Danny Kingad and No.3-ranked flyweight will likely receive the opportunity before him. For now, Pacio is entirely focused on his next title defense and his first appearance of 2022. Expect the Lakay Central Gym affiliate to look fresh in his 15th ONE bout.

Be sure to tune in to ONE Championship 164 on December 3rd for the highly-anticipated strawweight title fight. Current champ Joshua Pacio will compete against incoming challenger Jarred Brooks, live from the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.
