“Obviously, Jarred Brooks, a highly decorated American wrestler. He's been using his wrestling to dominate everyone. But Joshua is a phenomenal athlete, he adapts very well. And as you have seen in his previous title defenses, against Yosuke Saruta was also a phenomenal wrestler. He knocked him out. So Joshua's dangerous everywhere.”
The CEO wasn’t exaggerating when he said that Joshua Pacio is a spectacular athlete.
One of the strongest competitors fighting out of the famed Team Lakay, ‘The Passion’ is excellent from all angles. He’s got great fight IQ and takedown experience which will give him the edge in his upcoming fight with Jarred Brooks.
As for Brooks, the American superstar will have to deal with the pressure from inside the ring just as outside of it; as he will be confronting not only an aggressive Pacio but a very hostile Filipino crowd come fight night at ONE 164.
Joshua Pacio pumped to put on a show for Filipino fanbase
ONE strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio is pumped to put on a show for his Filipino fanbase in his own backyard in Manila, Philippines.
The last time Pacio performed live in his hometown was back in January 2020 before the pandemic struck the world. He fought at the Mall of Asia Arena for his second straight world title defense against Brazilian slugger Alex Silva.
Winning the match by a razor-close split decision, Pacio hopes to relive that moment and restore a sense of national pride within his community at ONE 164.
Joshua Pacio told ONE:
“The energy and excitement are just different in Manila, with the thousands of Filipino fans screaming in the stadium. It really gives us extra motivation to perform at our best. I’m very proud to be a Filipino and I want to make the Filipino fans proud.”
