In 2022, 'Hitman' Liam Harrison and 'The Elbow Zombie' Muangthai PK.Saenchai went to war in an unforgettable bout. It is no surprise that the bout has been awarded ONE’s 2022 Muay Thai Fight of the Year.

It was merely a single-round battle. Muangthai dropped the British combat sports veteran twice in a row and it looked like it was about to be 'Goodnight Irene' for Harrison, as Michael Schiavello would say.

But then, 'Hitman' rallied back with a formidable attack. In quick succession, Harrison scored three consecutive knockdowns against 'The Elbow Zombie'. With that, the 37-year-old walked away victorious and with two performance bonuses for his efforts, totaling $100,000.

Liam Harrison discusses the Muangthai fight

Against Muangthai PK.Saenchai, Liam Harrison inspired international fans with his incredible comeback win. The 37-year-old striking veteran recently discussed what this match meant for his career in an interview with ONE.

He explained:

"The thing is, that’s not the first time stuff like that’s happened to me in my career. I’ve got off the floor to win before when I’ve been knocked down heavily by Thai fighters and stuff like that. But to do it on that stage with the entire world watching, on the biggest platform there is."

Liam Harrison feels like the fight was a gift for fans. He continued:

"Now I’m coming towards the back end of my career. I’m just so happy that I got to give the world that gift of that fight. Ninety seconds of absolute mayhem.”

'Hitman' also added that the fight inspired many people to get into the gym. He explained:

"There were people who said, ‘I don’t even do any fight sports, you just inspired me to be a better person. You’ve inspired me to just try extra hard with life.’ That was amazing. That’s what you do this thing for. I want to inspire people. I want to make people push themselves the extra mile and be a better person.”

With a win over Muangthai, Liam Harrison was awarded a world title shot against reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, won via first-round TKO due to 'Hitman' suffering an injury from leg-kick attacks.

Thai legend Nong-O will be looking to make it seven successful defenses of his throne when he faces Alaverdi Ramazanov at the inaugural ONE Lumpinee event on January 20.
