Mateusz Gamrot calls out Michael Chandler after Twitter post suggests matchup

Michael Chandler was recently called out by fellow UFC lightweight contender Mateusz Gamrot on Twitter. The MMA media account (@WestTillDeath) posted an image online suggesting that a matchup between 'Gamer' and Chandler should be made in 2023.

Gamrot came across the post and called out 'Iron' to a duel, but did not specify a date. Both men are coming off defeats in their previous bout, and a win over a fellow top contender would help both fighters' in their pursuit of a UFC title shot.

Michael Chandler has put on Fight of the Night contenders since his first fight with the UFC, and a matchup with fellow lover-of-violence Mateusz Gamrot would be a spectacle.

With Conor McGregor's anticipated return approaching, Chandler has voiced his eagerness to welcome the Irishman back from injury. 'The Notorious' has been injured since July 2021, after he snapped his shin against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

Chandler and Gamrot both made their debuts in the UFC within months of each other, and have five and six fights in the promotion respectively. Despite their short stint in the division, both men have made a sizeable impact, and a fight between them cannot be ruled out.

"He chooses to be Gatti when he could be Mayweather" -Matt Brown criticizes Michael Chandler's fight style

Michael Chandler is known as one of the most entertaining and explosive fighters in the UFC. 'Iron' has produced highlight reel moments and memorable fights since his first fight in the promotion, but holds a record of 2-3 since his debut.

MMA veteran Matt Brown believes that Chandler's strategy is working against him. In a recent interview with MMAFighting.com, Brown stated that 'Iron' would win far more fights if he fought more intelligently.

'The Immortal' compared Michael Chandler's style to the contrasting styles of Arturo Gatti and Floyd Mayweather in boxing. Gatti was remembered for his exciting fights, but not winning. Whereas Mayweather would simply adapt his strategy in the fight to defeat his opponent.

During the interview, Brown said this:

"He chooses to be Arturo Gatti when he could be Floyd Mayweather ... Do you want to fight for the fans or do you want to fight for yourself and win."
