Arnold Allen thinks his best move is to fight Max Holloway after getting snubbed from the interim UFC featherweight title fight. However, Michael Bisping isn't sure about that.

Allen recently spoke about the possibility of fighting Holloway, claiming that it's a bigger statement than winning interim gold. While Bisping somewhat agrees with that premise, he doesn't necessarily think the risk could be worthwhile for Allen.

During a live Q&A with fans on YouTube, the former UFC middleweight champion said:

"A manager will say, 'Hold on a minute. You're within spitting distance of the belt. Why are you gonna risk that by fighting Max Holloway, who's one of the best ever at featherweight?' [He's] a guy, who – other than Volkanovski – seemingly can beat anyone else in the division. We don't know about Arnold. Maybe Arnold wins. But as I say, when you're that close and Holloway isn't the champion, is the next best fighter in the division potentially, it's a gamble. It's a risk."

The UFC featherweight division is in limbo after reigning titleholder Alexander Volkanovski is set to challenge Islam Makhachev for the lightweight belt at UFC 284. With Volkanovski expected to be away from the featherweight division, the promotion has now booked an interim title bout between Yair Rodriguez and Josh Emmett.

Arnold Allen surprised by Yair Rodriguez vs. Josh Emmett interim bout

Arnold Allen claimed that he was surprised by the UFC's decision to go with Yair Rodriguez and Josh Emmett for the interim title bout.

As far as Allen is concerned, his resume is more impressive than either of the fighters who will contend for the belt. The rising featherweight star told Abz Talks:

"I was a little bit surprised. I thought I was in just with the win streak on its own. I know the last fight wasn’t ideal, but I thought when you put the nine-fight winning streak without the last one, that was more than worthy than either of what those guys have done at the minute."

However, Allen admitted that his most recent win over Calvin Kattar may not have helped his case. 'Almighty' defeated 'The Boston Finisher' by TKO due to an injury in October.
