Apart from sharing first names and their work with the UFC's broadcast team, there is nothing similar between Michael Chiesa and Michael Bisping. Chiesa is an active welterweight fighter, while Bisping is a retired former middleweight champion.

Chiesa recently shared a tweet detailing a hilarious incident where he was mistaken for the English fighter. 'Maverick' stated how the receptionist at the fighter hotel for UFC Fight Night 218 mistook him for 'The Count':

"Checked in at the fighter hotel tonight and the person at the front desk’s exact words were, 'Just need your photo ID and credit card for incidentals Mr. Bisping.' I told him, 'Believe. Conceive. Achieve. Stfu and give me my room key.'"

Michael Chiesa will work backstage at UFC Vegas 68 as a desk analyst, while Michael Bisping will join Laura Sanko in the commentary booth. Sanko will be the first woman in the UFC's modern era to provide color commentary.

Michael Chiesa, from TUF 15 winner to top UFC welterweight and analyst

Michael Chiesa broke into the scene as a lightweight on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 15 in 2012, where he had a dramatic storyline. Midway through the season, his terminally ill father passed away.

Chiesa took all that grief and channeled it into fighting his way to the finals, which was his promotional debut. There he beat 'Raging' Al Iaquinta to become the TUF 15 winner and earn the coveted UFC contract.

After winning the season, 'Maverick' went 6-4 in the promotion as a lightweight. Following a submission defeat at the hands of Anthony Pettis, Chiesa moved up to welterweight where he found relative success, going 4-2 in the weight class.

In his promotional career, he has wins over names like Neil Magny, Rafael dos Anjos, Diego Sanchez and Francisco Trinaldo. A ground specialist, Chiesa has submission wins over the likes of Jim Miller, Beneil Dariush, Carlos Condit and the aforementioned Al Iaquinta. 'Maverick' is currently 11-6 in the UFC and has an overall MMA record of 18-6.

Apart from being a world-class fighter, Chiesa also works as an analyst for the promotion. He recently opened up about losing his father in a video by ESPN MMA.
