Kayla Harrison has weighed in on which title was harder to achieve — the UFC bantamweight championship or Olympic gold in judo. Harrison claimed the title a few hours back after securing a dominant round two submission victory against former two-time champion Juliana Peña at UFC 316. She previously won two Olympic gold medals in Judo, representing the United States of America.
The newly minted UFC champion was interviewed at the post-fight press conference, where she was questioned about which of her accolades was harder to achieve. Harrison decided to politely dodge the question by stating that choosing between her accolades would be like picking her favorite child. She said:
"Dude, I thought I was going to get away! This is like a very bad spot for me, because if I say [that] it was harder to become [a] UFC champion then all the judo people will be mad at me and if I say [that] it is harder to become an Olympic champion [then] all the UFC people [will be mad at me]."

Kayla Harrison faces off with Amanda Nunes after UFC 316 victory
Kayla Harrison and former decorated UFC bantamweight queen Amanda Nunes squared off in the octagon in a respectful yet intense face-off in the immediate aftermath of Harrison's victory against Juliana Peña at UFC 316.
'The Lioness' retired from MMA after her successful title defense against Irene Aldana in 2023. She is set to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on June 26, capping her legacy as an all-time bantamweight great.
The newly minted champion has had her crosshairs on Nunes since she arrived in the UFC, and it seems like her win against Peña is enough motivation for Nunes to come out of retirement.
