ONE newcomer Jonathan Di Bella acknowledges the talent that the Chinese phenom Zhang Peimian possesses ahead of their kickboxing clash at ONE 162.

Hailing from Montreal, Canada, Jonathan Di Bella is scheduled to make his ONE debut for the vacant ONE strawweight kickboxing world title against Zhang Peimian at the Axiata Arena in Malaysia.

The relatively unknown Di Bella is no stranger to the limelight, having fought at The Madison in New York under Glory, nor is he a stranger to competing with some of the highest-level fighters in the world.

In ONE Championship, Di Bella is excited to fight for a world title and put his skills to the test against a fierce opponent from China.

Speaking to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), the Italian-Canadian striker was asked if there was anything ‘Fighting Rooster’ does that he needs to watch out for. Di Bella answered:

“He does everything well. He’s a well-rounded fighter. Anything can happen in a fight, so protect yourself at all times and put a show on for the fans.”

Jonathan Di Bella, a multiple-time ISKA kickboxing world champion, has a professional kickboxing record of 10 straight wins and zero losses. Proficient in boxing as well, he’s accumulated an amateur record of 6-0. Fighting out of his father’s gym, Team Di Bella Kickboxing, the Italian-Canadian prospect is eager to showcase his elite-level striking to the world.

His opponent, Zhang Peimian is a familiar face in ONE Championship. The 19-year-old phenom burst into ONE with a splash, dominating Australia’s Josh Tona at ONE: Lights Out via technical knockout. Collecting his second win by decision at ONE 159, the Chinese powerhouse is ready to earn his third at ONE 162.

Jonathan Di Bella trains with full-time coach and father Angelo Di Bella

The most influential person in Jonathan Di Bella’s life is his father, Angelo Di Bella. The 26-year-old standout started training in martial arts as early as the age of two and began kickboxing in the amateur scene at 10.

All of his hard work and discipline is owed to his father, former multiple-time kickboxing world champion Angelo Di Bella, who trains him full-time at their home gym in Montreal, Canada.

Heading into his first professional outing with ONE Championship, Di Bella will count on his father to prepare him for one of the biggest world title matches of his career.
