ONE welterweight world champion Kiamrian Abbasov will defend his throne against fellow world champion, ONE lightweight king Christian Lee, at ONE on Prime Video 4.

Lee, who reigns over a lower weight class, is perceived to have the speed advantage while Abbasov will own the size and power department. The event broadcasts on Friday, November 18, and is free to fans in the US and Canada who have a Prime Video subscription.

According to Abbasov, however, Lee's speed wouldn't be a concern for him. In an interview with ONE Championship, 'Brazen' pointed out a reality when it comes to moving up in weight:

"If he moved up two divisions, then we could talk about his speed, but our weight difference is not that big, so I don’t think it will pose a problem."

What Kiamrian Abbasov is saying is true. Putting on weight and muscle mass can mean losing speed and mobility. Once they clash at ONE on Prime Video 4, Abbasov and Lee will be fighting at 185 pounds, fifteen pounds more than what Lee is used to fighting at.

This can ultimately boil down to which gameplan each fighter will use. Abbasov can use his size advantage by choosing a grappling-heavy attack, while Lee can opt to stick and move to utilize his speed advantage. We just need to wait 'til November 18 to find out.

Kiamrian Abbasov wants Christian Lee to regret moving up to welterweight to challenge for the world title

Despite facing one of the best fighters ONE Championship has ever produced, Kiamrian Abbasov believes the onus is on him to prove that the welterweight division belongs to him.

'Brazen' said:

“A lot of things will go off plan for him [Lee]. Naturally, he will complain to his dad or coach: ‘Coach, big problem. Kiamrian Abbasov is a big problem. Please, stop the fight. Stop the fight.’ When the cage is closed, neither media nor his family will help him. It will be only I and he with all his big problems because of his desire to move up to my division.”

The ONE welterweight king concluded with:

“I will whisper to his ear during the fight: ‘Stay in your lightweight division.’”

Abbasov, just a few months ago, tried to move up a weight class and challenge for the world title himself. Unfortunately, 'Brazen' was utterly decimated by the much larger and skilled ONE double-champion, Reinier de Ridder.

Perhaps with the loss still fresh from his memory, Abbasov understands more than anyone how size and power can make a difference when two world-class fighters collide.
