Things are getting worse for Conor McGregor after the civil court of Ireland found McGregor liable for sexual assault and has ordered him to pay €248,000 in damages to the victim. Now, stores in Ireland are delisting drinks linked to McGregor from their shelves.
According to the Irish Independent, the Musgrave Group, a large food and beverage wholesaler in Ireland, has delisted Forged Irish Stout and Proper No. 12. This decision is expected to impact the sales of the Proper No. 12 whiskey brand, which McGregor launched before selling it to Proximo Spirits for a staggering $600 million. Despite the sale, McGregor continues to actively promote the brand on his social media.
The BWG Foods group has also informed its retailers that they will no longer be offering Forged Irish Stout and Proper No. 12. These companies faced criticism for selling McGregor-associated products and were compelled to withdraw them from their stores.
Following this, many believe that other brands may also distance themselves from the former two-division champion, potentially causing significant damage to his brand value.
Conor McGregor issues statement: “I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision”
Nikita Hand filed the sexual assault case against Conor McGregor in 2021, alleging that he assaulted her in 2018 at a hotel in Dublin, Ireland. However, McGregor has consistently denied the claims, even after being found liable for assault.
'The Notorious' took to X to share that he has instructed his legal team to appeal the decision, once again claiming that the incident was consensual. He expressed regret over the situation and showed gratitude to his fans and family for their support, writing:
“People want to hear from me, I needed time. I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her outreaches. I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world. That’s all on me. As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all the witnesses present swore to that under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision."
Mcgregor added:
"I can’t go back and I will move forward. I am beyond grateful to my family, friends and supporters all over the world who have stayed by my side. That’s it. No more. Getting back to the gym- the fight game awaits!”
