At ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, Reece McLaren will compete in one of the biggest fights of his career and he is putting the work in beforehand to make sure his performance matches the high stakes.
On May 5, the Aussie fighter will fly to the United States to compete in Colorado against the former ONE flyweight world champion Kairat Akhmetov. The pair have faced off once, with Akhmetov winning a unanimous decision in 2019.
With both men coming into the fight off of impressive win streaks, they know exactly what is at stake here. Not to mention that the flyweight world championship will be contested in the main event when Demetrious Johnson takes on Adriano Moraes for a third time.
Having produced back-to-back finishes in his last two, McLaren is hoping to keep his momentum going inside the Circle as he makes his first appearance of 2023.
With a win over a former world champion, ‘Lightning’ could position himself as the next in line for whoever emerges victorious in the main event of the evening.

Demetrious Johnson believes Reece McLaren is on the cusp of a ONE world title shot
After ending his 2022 with a win over Windson Ramos, Reece McLaren finds himself right near the top of the flyweight division.
The reigning ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson labeled him as one of the contenders who could be competing for the world title in the near future.
In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘Mighty Mouse’ said:
“Reece McLaren, he’s right there. He’s a great athlete. He was in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix and came up short against [current No.2 contender] Kairat Akhmetov. Yeah, his striking was good, man.”
At ONE Fight Night 10, Johnson and McLaren will share the same stage. Whilst the world champion will be facing Adriano Moraes in the main event, McLaren will be looking to get revenge on Kairat Akhmetov in the main event to secure his shot at the world championship.
With that in mind, the stage is perfectly set for the Aussie fighter to make a statement and stake his claim on the ground, ready to face the winner of the main event.
