Before Superbon returns to the ring on June 9, relive his iconic head kick KO of legendary striker Giorgio Petrosyan at ONE: First Strike.

Superbon and Petrosyan, two of the greatest pound-for-pound strikers in the world, put their legendary status on the line for the inaugural ONE featherweight kickboxing world title in October 2021.

Going into the match, both men had previously established themselves in the kickboxing world with a collection of significant wins against some of the top strikers in the division.

The former No.1 ranked featherweight, ‘The Doctor’ Giorgio Petrosyan, for instance, was coming off a spectacular world grand prix tournament in 2019. He won the four-man tournament in excellent fashion and capped it off with an unmatched performance over Davit Kiria to earn a shot at the world title.

Superbon, made an instant impact in the kickboxing community as well, with an outstanding decision victory against a former Lumpinee Stadium world champion, Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, in his very first outing at ONE Championship.

Therefore, this highly anticipated matchup was definitely going to go down in the history books as one of the greatest world title fights of its kind - and Superbon made it all the more memorable.

In the opening round, Petrosyan tried to set the pace early with some outside pressure to close the distance. In a previous interview, he promised to use his boxing skills to trap Superbon and overwhelm him with strikes from all angles.

However, Superbon would have none of it. He covered the distance well with his signature push kicks and body kicks to force his rival to reset and move forward.

Evidently, the technique was highly successful. In the second round, Superbon had reset to a starting position after being separated by the referee, to set up a beautiful head kick KO which Petrosyan never saw coming.
