Renato Moicano recently reacted to the aftermath of the Ryan Garcia-Devin Haney bout, which took place on April 20.

Garcia fought WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney in a 12-round main event, and was a massive +450 underdog heading into the fight. There was also widespread concern about his mental health due to the worrying behavior he exhibited leading up to the fight.

However, Garcia defeated Haney via majority decision, handing 'The Dream' the first loss of his professional boxing career. According to reports, Garcia bet $2 million on himself heading into the fight and received a massive $12 million payout following the victory.

Following these reports coming to light, Renato Moicano took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared his thoughts on Garcia's "genius" strategy. He wrote:

"So wait. Ryan Garcia bet $2 million on himself and earned $12 million just pretending he was drunk and high and going to Illuminati sh**? Modaf* is a true marketing genius!!!"

Ryan Garcia forfeited a portion of his purse to Devin Haney

In the Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia pre-fight press conference last Thursday, Haney had predicted that Garcia would miss the weight on weigh-ins. A heated debate followed and both men agreed to pay $500,000 per pound of weight missed to their opponent if they failed to make weight.

Garcia, who was scheduled to challenge Haney for the WBC super lightweight title, saw his championship aspirations come to a screeching halt as he weighed in at 143.2 pounds - 3.2 pounds above the weight limit.

Haney agreed to proceed with the fight. However, both teams arrived at a financial agreement that reportedly required Garcia to forfeit upward of $600,000 from his purse as a penalty.

This also meant that Garcia could not become the champion even if he defeated 'The Dream.' Following the fight, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman clarified that despite the loss, Haney will remain the super lightweight champion:

"Congratulations to Ryan Garcia defying all obstacles and winning a huge fight. Congratulations to Devin Haney for showing his huge heart and class. Just as in Corrales vs. Castillo 2, with the challenger not making weight, Haney remains the WBC champion."

Garcia's win over Haney was his second straight victory since losing to Gervonta 'Tank' Davis in April 2023. He defeated Oscar Duarte in December 2023 to get back in the win column.
