Retirement from the UFC does not often spell the end of a fighter's combat sports journey. Many explore other competitive ventures besides mixed martial arts or get back into the gym in a mentorship role.

That's the case for former UFC women's flyweight fighter Roxanne Modafferi, who recently made a callout to female flyweight and bantamweight martial artists who would be down to face her at a North American Grappling Association tournament in Las Vegas on February 11.

Modafferi stipulated that the fighter be a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and asked interested athletes to reach out to her. She also stressed wanting to fight while donning the gi, the traditional Brazilian jiu-jitsu uniform.

'The Happy Warrior' tweeted:

"Are there any flyweight or bantamweight female bjj black belts who wanna fight me in the gi in a NAGA tournament coming up in Vegas on February 11? Lol Nobody is signed up yet and I’d love a gi match."

Modafferi was met with enthusiastic support from her followers, but some also opted for the comedic route. One male fan stated his heavier weight and poor financial condition as he agreed to take her on with minimal experience and training:

"Im a dude and weigh in on the lighter side of heavyweight and a white belt with zero financial means of getting to Vegas so we’d have to grapple in front of my trailer while someone records it with a cracked iPhone but I’m down."

Former UFC veteran Roxanne Modafferi announces new teaching job in Japan

Roxanne Modafferi's latest tweet is proof that she has not let her newest job consume her and that she will continue to exert herself in combat sports whenever possible.

A week earlier, the former UFC veteran of nine promotional fights took to Twitter to announce her latest teaching job. She tweeted:

"I got the job! As an English teacher! Yay #ESL Mrs. Roman has entered the classroom!"

'The Happy Warrior' holds a major in Japanese language and literature and has past teaching experience, having taught in Japan since her graduation in 2005. However, this new teaching job will not see her return to Japan as it is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, home of the UFC.
