Rodtang Jitmuangnon will step inside the Circle in front of a hometown crowd for the first time in what feels like an eternity.

‘The Iron Man’ returns to the cage on Friday (January 13) for a rare kickboxing appearance against Jiduo Yibu at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video. Emanating from Impact Arena in Bangkok, Rodtang will be competing in his home country for the first time in years. As a result, ‘The Iron Man’ is feeling a little more pressure than usual to put on a show for his countrymen and women.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Rodtang revealed that while he is excited to fight in Thailand, there is a fair amount of pressure to deliver a spectacular performance for the fans in attendance. He said:

“I am very excited and it has been very many years since I last fought in Thailand. It’s also very pressuring too because I really feel like I need to win the fight.”

Rodtang Jitmuangnon’s last appearance inside the Circle came at ONE on Prime Video 4 in November. The reigning flyweight Muay Thai world champion defended his crown in dominant fashion against the strawweight titleholder Joseph ‘The Hurricane’ Lasiri. With just two moves removed from that bout, ‘The Iron Man’ will attempt to do it again in less than a week on Amazon Prime Video.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon backs countryman Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE Fight Night 6

Rodtang Jitmuangnon won’t be the only Muay Thai superstar strapping on the 16oz gloves at ONE Fight Night next Saturday night. ‘The Kicking Machine’ Superlek Kiatmoo9 will do the same in the co-main event of the evening. He will meet Daniel Puertas for the vacant featherweight kickboxing world championship.

Sharing his thoughts on seeing his fellow Thai warrior get a world title opportunity, ‘The Iron Man’ backed his fellow countryman to walk out of Impact Arena with 26.4 pounds of gold wrapped around his waist. Rodtang Jitmuangnon said:

"Of course, I have to go with Superlek. He’s a real fighter and he’s calm. Puertas might be able to score with kicking and he might put up a fight, but I’m going with Superlek."

You can catch both fights and much more live and for free in U.S. primetime on Amazon Prime Video with an active subscription.
