At ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video, Rodtang Jitmuangnon will take himself out of his comfort zone to compete in kickboxing. The ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion is on the hunt for a second world title, starting on January 13.

In the co-main event of the evening, fellow Thai fighter Superlek will face Spain’s Daniel Puertas for the vacant ONE flyweight kickboxing world championship. Puertas, who was originally scheduled to face Rodtang, was slotted in to compete in the co-main event after the world championship was vacated by Ilias Ennahachi.

Previewing the world title fight taking place in the same division that he is competing in, Rodtang Jitmuangnon said in an interview with ONE Championship:

“I cheer for the Thai people. But like I’ve said, kickboxing rules decide the score by how aggressive you are, and how frequently you attack. I don’t want Superlek to be careless because his opponent loves to attack a lot. Daniel is a good kickboxer. ”

With a win over China’s Jiduo Yibu this weekend, Rodtang will put himself in position to challenge either Superlek or Puertas for the world championship.

ONE Fight Night 6 is live from the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. The event airs in US primetime and is free to watch with an active Prime subscription.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon has all the respect for Ilias Ennahachi for relinquishing the flyweight belt

Rodtang Jitmuangnon has praised former ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Ilias Ennahachi for vacating his world championship.

After being unable to safely make the flyweight weight limit while hydrated, the Dutch-Moroccan fighter was forced to make the tough decision of vacating his world title and his co-main event spot at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video,.

Ennahachi was originally lined-up to defend his world championship against ‘The Kicking Machine’ Superlek Kiatmoo9 in the co-main event on January 13. After informing the promotion that he wouldn’t be able to make the weight limit safely, Daniel Puertas stepped in to fight for the vacant title.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Rodtang Jitmuangnon expressed much respect to Ennahachi for owning up to his inability to make the weight and making the tough choice to relinquish his title:

“I respect his spirit and his sportsmanship to come forward and tell that he will not be able to make weight. Like in boxing, when you cannot make weight you just have to change weight classes. It’s normal.”
