UFC welterweight prospect Stephen Thompson recently revealed his favorite anime character.

In the latest episode of MMA Pros Pick with James Lynch, Stephen Thompson shared his admiration for the Japanese anime series One Punch Man. The show follows a superhero who can defeat any opponent with a single punch. Thompson also compared the character to UFC featherweight prospect Marlon Moraes, noting the similarities between the two.

The 39-year-old American fighter said:

"As of now, it's an anime character and it's One Punch Man! If you ever saw One Punch Man, it is the exact replica of Marlon Moraes... Look at Marlon Moraes and then google One Punch Man. They're the exact same person. But he is like an overly powered superhero...It is not cartoon, it is anime, just to get this straight."
"My dad's like, "Man Stephen, are you watching cartoons?" And I am like, "Dad, woah! It's not cartoons man. It's anime." Let's get it right. But check it out. One Punch Man's my jam."

Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson recently competed against Kevin Holland in the main event of UFC Orlando. The two fighters put on an exciting show, with Thompson ultimately emerging victorious. The victory marked the end of his two-fight losing streak that began in 2021.

Thompson is regarded as one of the promotion's most decorated strikers, with a 17-fight win record that includes eight knockouts, one submission, and four first-round finishes. The fighter has six losses and one draw.

Stephen Thompson clarifies his remarks about the potential matchup between Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards

Shortly after Stephen Thompson's remarks, speculation arose that Kamaru Usman's hand injury would keep him from competing against Edwards in March, which is the UFC's planned date for the third fight.

Usman's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, took to Twitter to deny the rumors, calling them "fake."

Following the "drama" that occurred, 'Wonderboy' has now clarified that his statement was only a guess and he has no knowledge of the UFC's plans pertaining to the fight. He wrote on Twitter:

"My friends, my bad! I meant to say I wouldn’t be surprised if they made the Leon vs Masvidal fight 😂 I have no idea what the UFC is planning to do. As of now it’s still Leon vs Usman. #MyBad 🤦‍♂️ #Oops"
