Sunny Edwards vs. Galal Yafai: Live round-by-round updates

Sunny Edwards looks to continue his bounce-back tour by taking out the undefeated Galal Yafai.

In December 2023, Edwards suffered his lone professional boxing loss in an epic battle against Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez. Since then, the 28-year-old has fought once, defeating Adrian Curiel in June.

Edwards, the former IBF flyweight world champion, has an opportunity to regain a title when he headlines an event on November 30. The 28-year-old's upcoming opponent is Yafai, who holds an undefeated record of 8-0.

Yafai is an Olympic gold medalist who made a name for himself in the 2020 Tokyo Games, which took place in 2021. The 31-year-old will have a hometown advantage against Edwards, as he's from Birmingham.

Round 1:

Sunny Edwards vs. Galal Yafai is underway. Yafai is attempting to set the pace early by pushing forward. Edwards attempts to stop his momentum with counterpunches. This fight has already begun heating up.

Yafai will need to be smart with his defense all fight due to Edwards' sharp punches. Edwards starts to take over in the second half of the round. We're in for an absolute war. Edwards ends the round with the momentum.

Round 2:

Galal Yafai is trying to suffocate Sunny Edwards with his pressure. Edwards is throwing out heavy feints and looking to catch Yafai on the weight in. Yafai's fundamental pressure could be a problem for Edwards as this fight grows.

Both fighters are focusing on looping punches. Edwards stays on the ropes momentarily but avoids heavy damage with his head movement. The pace of this fight has been insane, even for flyweights.

Sunny Edwards seems to be gaining some momentum. Galal Yafai refuses to let his opponent breathe by coming forward with brutal pressure. Edwards continues to stay on the ropes longer than he usually would.

Edwards goes down to the body. Yafai returns the favor. Yafai is staying smart with his pressure and picking his shots beautifully. Edwards loads up two uppercuts that miss the target. Yafai is landing more and winning these exchanges.

Yafai locks in for another onslaught. Edwards is trying to throw a counterpunch, but he's not finding enough success. Yafai lands behind the ear with a hook. Edwards is losing whatever momentum he gained in round three.

Round 5:

Sunny Edwards is starting to showcase his warrior spirit. Galal Yafai is looking as sharp as ever. Yafai pushes forward with hooks every time Edwards tries to put some combinations together. Yafai's body punches are playing a factor.

The fighters have been close a few times to clashing heads. Edwards returns to the ropes before setting up a counter combination. Yafai goes down to the body once again. Yafai is moving forward but his volume is slowing down slightly.

Yafai lands a cracking left hand that gets Edwards' attention. Edwards shells up temporarily and pays for the decision. Edwards fires back. Yafai slips to the ground. The referee is stopping the fight to check Yafai's ear after the slip. The fight continues. This fight is heating up!

Round 6:

Galal Yafai refuses to let Sunny Edwards breathe. Yafai dominates the first thirty seconds with Edwards not throwing many punches back. Edwards needs to turn things around because the referee gives him a brief warning.

Yafai is starting to land everything. The referee steps in! Wow, what a masterful performance from Yafai. Edwards never truly got going.
