Reigning ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 had added inspiration for his last fight as he was able to touch base with his estranged father.

'The Kicking Machine' got a welcome surprise as ONE Championship arranged for his dad to be present at the press conference for ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video back in January. His father also saw him fight for the very first time.

Superlek expressed his gratitude to ONE for the wonderful gesture, which he said only motivated him more to come out swinging and go for the win.

The Thai superstar shared with the promotion in an interview:

“Honestly, I was surprised when he appeared at the press conference, because I expected him to only show up on fight day. But ONE’s staff surprised me early. I was very happy that my dad had a chance to watch me fight. My goal was to claim the gold as a present to my family, my fans, and all Thai people. And, I made it happen.”

At ONE Fight Night 6, Superlek went on to claim the vacant ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion after defeating Spain’s Daniel Puertas by unanimous decision.

'The Kicking Machine' is to make his first title defense on March 24 at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video in Singapore. He will put it on the line against fellow Thai fireball Rodtang 'Iron Man' Jitmuangnon.

ONE Fight Night 8 will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and will be aired live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.

ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 is looking forward to his title showdown against fellow Thai superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon later this month, but he knows he is in for a very tough challenge

'The Kicking Machine' will make his first world title defense at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video on March 24 in Singapore. The 27-year-old fighter became a champion back in January when he defeated Daniel Puertas by unanimous decision.

Looking to make it a short reign for him is Rodtang, who is on a mission to become a two-sport world champion by adding kickboxing gold to the ONE flyweight Muay Thai strap already in his possession.

In a recent Instagram post, the Kiatmoo9 Gym affiliate hyped himself up for his showdown with Rodtang. The caption, when translated, reads:

“Even if no one believes in us, just believe in ourselves. 👊🤫⚡️”

Apart from retaining his world title at ONE Fight Night 8, Superlek is seeking to extend his winning streak, which currently stands at four.
