Superlek (Left) is keen to re-book his fight with Ennahachi (Right) in the future

At ONE Fight Night 6 in January, Superlek Kiatmoo9 was scheduled to face Ilias Ennahachi for the ONE flyweight kickboxing world championship.

In the build-up to the event, Ennahachi announced that he would be vacating the world title and moving up a weight class due to his concerns with making the flyweight limit.

Instead, ‘The Kicking Machine’ fought Spain’s Daniel Puertas, emerging as the newly crowned world champion following a unanimous decision win.

As he prepares for the first defense of his title against Danial Williams at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video this Friday, Superlek has left the door open to a potential clash with Ennahachi somewhere down the line.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post, the flyweight kickboxing king spoke about the possibility of seeing him move up a weight class and compete at bantamweight:

“That would be for the future, because right now I am happy with my weight division. So in the future if I am interested to switch to bantamweight I am ready to face him again."

Danial Williams says the ‘pressure is on Superlek’ as the favorite

At ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24, Danial Williams will step into the main event to face Superlek Kiamtoo9 for the ONE flyweight kickboxing world championship.

‘The Kicking Machine’ was previously scheduled to face-off with the flyweight Muay Thai king Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a striking superfight that the fans couldn’t wait to finally see.

Unfortunately, ONE Championship announced that Rodtang would not be competing at the event due to an injury he suffered in training. In his place, Danial Williams will step into his place with nothing to lose and potentially a whole lot to gain.

‘Mini T’ was set to compete against Rui Botehlo in a Muay Thai contest on the same night, but with his reputation for putting on a great show for the fans, he was the clear option for a replacement opponent.

Whilst he now finds himself in a far bigger fight than before, Williams believes that all the pressure is on the defending world champion. In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘Mini T’ said:

“I think the pressure is on Superlek. I’m the strawweight guy. I’ve got nothing to lose,” Williams admitted. “He’s got to put on a show, he’s got to make sure he gets the win, he’s the favorite. So, I feel like that’s my advantage. For me, that just gives me massive confidence, because I’m just not stressed about it. This is life-changing for me, so I’m going to put on the best performance I can possibly give.”

ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24 will air live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium and is available for free via Prime Video for North American viewers.
