Superlek shrugs off pre-fight concern about him not acclimating to Denver air: “I already did my homework”

Superlek wasn't overly concerned with acclimating to the high altitude of The Mile High City.

Last month, 'The Kicking Machine' headlined a loaded ONE 168: Denver card that saw him capture the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world championship via a perfectly timed elbow 49 seconds into his scrap with former two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty.

Having arrived in Denver far later than his opponent, there was much concern that Superlek could suffer the consequences of not acclimating to the high altitude.

Luckily, 'The Kicking Machine' didn't need to put his cardio to the test, but even if he had, the Thai superstar is confident that his body would have held up without issue.

"My first day in Denver, I was trying to acclimatize," he said in an interview with Yokkao. "Was there much of a difference? I went for a run, but I didn't feel that tired from being in a different country. I already did my homework and prepared before traveling."

With the win, Superlek is now a two-sport ONE world champion, holding both the ONE flyweight kickboxing and ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world titles.

If you missed any of the action, ONE Championship fans in the United States and Canada can watch the ONE 168: Denver replay on demand via Amazon Prime Video.

Is a Superlek vs. Rodtang rematch on the horizon following ONE 168: Denver?

What comes next for Superlek following his big win against 'The General' remains to be seen, but there is one fight that seems to be on everyone's mind—including ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

Last year, 'The Kicking Machine' went toe-to-toe with ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a bout hailed as the greatest fight of the last 50 years.

After three incredible rounds, Superlek saw his hand raised via unanimous decision but the ruling did come with a bit of controversy and many believed 'The Iron Man' did enough to leave Lumpinee Stadium with his 'O' intact.

Is one of the most anticipated rematches in Muay Thai history the fight to make—once Rodtang settles some business with Jacob Smith at ONE 169 next month?

Fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE 169 live on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, Nov. 8 in U.S. primetime.
