Dana White's latest venture, Power Slap League, is all set for its debut on January 18th. Before the league went on the air, a Texan slap fighter outlined the three fundamental rules of the sport.

The Power Slap League is a new endeavor for White, who has reunited with former business partners Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta. In 2001, the Fertitta brothers acquired the UFC and appointed White as president. In 2016, the brothers sold the business to the Endeavor Talent Agency for $4 billion.

Dana White posted a promotional video on his Instagram handle for the competition/reality show Power Slap: Road to the Title on Thursday, with an air date of January 18 specified.

Michael Okuma, from El Paso, has been a slap competitor for over a year. After hearing about it on social media, he said he was immediately intrigued. Ahead of the television debut of Power Slap League, Okuma shed light on the basic rules of the sport in an interview with KVIA-TV:

"Basically, you stand there across frok each other [and] you take turns hitting each other."

The guidelines he outlined prohibit clubbing, thus all slaps must be administered with an open palm. No fists or wrist strikes are permitted.

The second rule is no stepping, or a stepping foul, which occurs when a striker's feet do not remain in contact with the ground throughout the whole strike, including pivoting the ball of the foot. The third and most important rule of slap-fighting is to accept a blow to the face without flinching or moving.

Dana White explains why TBS delayed the broadcast of Power Slap League

Dana White's Power Slap League was originally scheduled to go on air on January 11th, 2023. However, the UFC president was caught on camera engaging in a physical altercation with his wife on New Year's Eve in Mexico.

The launch of White's new Power Slap League was postponed as a result of the outrage.

Speaking about the postponed airing date, Dana White explained that after returning from Mexico, he was meant to embark on a media tour to promote the new show, but was unable to do so due to the unfortunate incident involving his wife.

Speaking to the media at the UFC Vegas 67 post-fight press conference, White said:

"We pushed it back a week because I was supposed to come back and do, like, this whole media tour, which obviously wasn't going to happen when I got back."
