The betting line for Darrick Minner's UFC Vegas 64 clash against Shayilan Nuerdanbieke underwent drastic changes right before Minner injured himself and suffered a first-round TKO loss. Minner threw a left body-kick and winced in pain as he stepped back. He was severely compromised after throwing the same kick again, leading to the finish.

Watch the sequence below:

The odds of every fight are subject to change, depending on how many people are betting on each side. A fighter opening up as an underdog can turn favorite if a majority of bettors wager money on him. While Shayilan Nuerdanbieke was already a -237 favorite going into the fight, he became a -362 favorite in the final moments of the lead-up.

This certainly raised some eyebrows amongst fans and pundits alike who called it out on social media.

The UFC recently banned betting on fighters and their teams with "insider information". According to TSN's Aaron Bronsteter, the move was an attempt to avoid scenarios like this.

The MMA community seemingly agrees that the UFC won't let the matter go past without some investigation.

The UFC bans fighters from betting

The UFC recently introduced a major change in their athlete code of conduct to cover wagering. MMA Junkie procured a copy of the email sent by top exec Hunter Campbell notifying the roster and fighter managers of the changes.

As per the mail, fighters are banned from wagering on their fights by themselves or through someone else as it would be considered insider betting. This also applies to fighters' teammates, coaches, and anybody else who might be privy to non-public information.

In the mail, part of the amendment entitled “Wagering” reads:

"Athletes are prohibited from placing any wagers (directly or through a third party) on any UFC match, including placing any wagers on themselves. In most states with legalized sports betting, wagering by an athlete (directly or through a third party) on any MMA match put on by a promoter with which they are affiliated is illegal and may result in criminal sanction. Athletes should also be aware that in most states these same prohibitions apply to some or all of (i) relatives living in the same household as an athlete, (ii) an athlete’s coaches, managers, handlers, athletic trainers, medical professionals and staff, and (iii) any other person with access to non-public information regarding participants in any MMA match."
